About Us
Nordic Hotels & Resorts is the largest collection of independent hotels in the Nordics, and one of the fastest-growing. Our portfolio includes some of the most iconic and internationally recognised properties in Northern Europe — Villa Copenhagen, Hotel Kämp, Amerikalinjen, and Sommerro — alongside distinctive lifestyle hotels that define their cities. Our properties are regularly featured in the world’s most influential travel media, from Monocle and Condé Nast Traveller to Forbes and Wallpaper*
We are driven by creating a reason to travel through genuine and unique experiences for the guest who wants a premium experience outside the expected. Through our devoted people and inspiring design, we create brands that tell a story. Every property is different. That is the point.
This is your chance to influence the fastest growing collection of independent hotels in the Nordics at the highest level.
The Director of Marketing is the operational backbone and creative guardian for the Luxury & Lifestyle Division. You are the senior functional leader responsible for aligning a community of on-property marketers across 20+ unique hotels — from internationally celebrated luxury landmarks to design-led lifestyle destinations that are rewriting the rules of Nordic hospitality.
You serve as the strategic lead bridging the gap between Brand Vision and On-Property Execution. As the Business Owner for local content, campaign concepts, and earned media strategy, you define the frameworks ensuring that the portfolio operates with precision and measurable commercial impact, while partnering with the Digital Strategy team to leverage central platforms and distribution channels effectively.
This role carries real creative influence: you will guide how properties like Villa Copenhagen, Sommerro, and Hotel Kämp present themselves to the world — you ensure that the stories we tell are not only compelling, but acts as a primary driver for our overarching digital and commercial objectives.
1. Functional Leadership & Community Management
Mentorship: Act as the primary lead for the division’s marketing talent. Provide high-level direction to Directors of Sales & Marketing (Luxury) and guidance to Brand & Marketing Managers (Lifestyle).
Strategic Alignment: Ensure local marketing plans align with the divisional commercial strategy. Review and approve quarterly plans to ensure they are ambitious and commercially viable.
People Management: The role carries direct personnel responsibility, currently including a dedicated resource located in Finland.
Inspirational Culture: Foster an environment that recognizes the power of different skills and cultures. Build a community where best practices are shared across the division to maximize efficiency.
2. Operational Frameworks & Creative Direction
Playbooks & Standards: Create operational frameworks for Rooms and F&B marketing. Define "How-To" playbooks that allow local teams to execute campaigns effectively.
Storytelling & Consistency: Secure creative storytelling and unique brand consistency for each property across all channels. Support the creative direction to maintain unique market positioning.
International Media & PR: Oversee the portfolio’s earned media strategy, including relationships with international travel and lifestyle media such as Monocle, Condé Nast Traveller, Forbes, and Wallpaper*. Ensure our properties maintain visibility in the publications that influence high-value international travellers.
Resource Optimization: Audit the marketing setup at each hotel. Ensure local teams have the necessary agency support, tools, and budgets to deliver on revenue targets.
3. Commercial Performance & Insights
Revenue Focus: Aggregate the commercial results of the portfolio. Shift focus from vanity metrics to commercial metrics, including revenue contribution, Cost-of-Sales (ROAS), and occupancy support.
Audience & Guest Journey Insights: Deepen understanding of market trends and guest behavior. Inject local relevance and "brand voice" into the automated guest journeys and CRM structures defined by the central Digital Strategy team, ensuring a seamless and personalized experience that maintains the property's soul.
Commercial Alignment : Define local commercial needs in close consultation with the VP Commercial Performance and the Director Digital Strategy & Commercial Platforms to ensure marketing investments are data-driven and technically scalable.
Project Leadership: Lead complex divisional projects, such as cross-portfolio seasonal activations or re-brandings, coordinating local teams for unified launches.
VP Commercial Performance: Line manager for all commercial targets, budgets, and performance.
Property Marketing Teams: Daily counterparts. You lead, guide, and support their local execution.
General Managers: Stakeholders for high-level goals and operational escalation.
Director Digital Strategy & Commercial Platforms: Your primary strategic partner. Together, you ensure that the creative vision is technically feasible, measurable, and optimized for conversion. You provide the "what" (storytelling and brand soul), while this partner provides the "where and how" (distribution, platforms, and data structure).
Director Brand & Communication: Collaborator who designs brand identity for you to apply in the field.
Experience & Background
Industry Tenure: Minimum 8 years in Marketing, with at least 5 years within Hotel Operations or Hospitality Management.
Multi-Unit Leadership: Proven track record of guiding marketing operations for a multi-property portfolio (10+ units).
Segment Expertise: Strong focus on the premium, luxury, and lifestyle segments. Experience with internationally positioned properties is a significant advantage.
Digital Proficiency: Proven record of bridging the gap between traditional and online marketing, leveraging technology to achieve objectives.
Media & PR: Experience managing earned media relationships with international travel and lifestyle publications. Comfortable operating at the intersection of brand storytelling and press strategy is a significant advantage.
People Management: Experience in full employee life-cycle, including performance management, professional development, and day-to-day guidance of direct reports.
Personal Abilities & Mindset
Matrix Coordination: Skill in navigating complex structures and aligning teams without direct line authority.
Commercial Acumen: Ability to interpret P&L statements and align marketing investments with complex revenue targets (RevPAR, TRevPAR).
Craftsmanship: A mix of conceptual thinking and executional precision. Not afraid to be hands-on when needed.
Communication: Exceptional verbal and written skills in English and either Swedish or Norwegian. Experience in delivering inspirational presentations.
Education
Requirement: University Degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or Marketing Strategy.
