Cloud & Infrastructure Architect

Role Overview

As a Cloud & Infrastructure Architect, you will be responsible for shaping, governing and evolving Strawberry’s digital foundation across cloud and infrastructure platforms. You will lead the architectural direction for our multi-cloud environment spanning GCP, AWS and Azure, while driving the transition away from remaining on-premise environments.

The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on technical guidance. You will define the target direction for our cloud providers and infrastructure landscape while working closely with product and technology teams to ensure scalable, secure and efficient solutions. 

You will drive operational excellence through cloud-native principles, infrastructure automation and DevFinOps practices, ensuring that our platforms remain reliable, cost-efficient and aligned with business growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Multi-Cloud Governance: Define and execute a unified infrastructure strategy across GCP, Azure, and AWS. Act as the technical authority for in-house GCP/AWS management while providing strategic oversight for Azure (managed by a CSP).

• Infrastructure Lifecycle: Lead the roadmap for on-premise decommissioning. Perform cost/benefit analyses to decide between asset retention and cloud migration.

• Product Partnership: Collaborate directly with product and tech teams to architect cloud native solutions, ensuring new initiatives are born in the cloud with best-practice architecture.

• Drive DevFinOps & Automation: Implement infrastructure automation (IaC) and integrate financial accountability into the engineering culture to optimize cloud spend.

• Security & Compliance: Design secure cloud and infrastructure architectures across multi-cloud environments. Define and maintain security standards, hardening guidelines, and architectural principles to ensure secure-by-default platforms. Perform security architecture reviews and collaborate with the Tech Security team to ensure secure and compliant platforms. 

• Vendor & Stakeholder Management: Manage high-level relationships with external service providers (CSPs) and internal leadership to align infrastructure capabilities with business growth.

Mandates & Authority

• Strategic Execution: Authority to implement the overarching cloud and infrastructure roadmap across all platforms.

• Operational Standards: Mandate to establish and enforce best practices, naming conventions, security guardrails, and architectural patterns across the organization.

• Resource Optimization: Accountability for the performance, cost-efficiency, and successful deployment of all cloud and residual on-premise components.

Qualifications

• Experience: 5+ years in Cloud Architecture or senior infrastructure roles, with experience from hybrid and multi-cloud environments.

• Multi-Cloud Mastery: Deep hands-on experience with GCP and AWS. Solid architectural knowledge of Azure (even if managed via a third party).

• Security & Governance: Strong understanding of cloud security architecture, infrastructure hardening, IAM, governance, and secure-by-design principles across multi-cloud environments, including familiarity with frameworks and regulations such as ISO 27001, NIST, and GDPR.

• Legacy-to-Cloud Transition: Proven track record of managing data center decommissioning and migrating legacy workloads to SaaS or cloud platforms. 

• Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of cloud unit economics and FinOps, balancing operational excellence, cost efficiency and business value.

• Communication:Ability to translate complex technical debt and architectural concepts into business value for stakeholders and product owners.

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related technical field.
