About the team and role

Strawberry is redefining what it means to care. We are on a journey to transform our sustainability efforts from a compliance exercise into a strong commercial and cultural advantage. We are looking for a strategic, visionary, and execution-oriented Vice President of Sustainability to lead our WeCare department.

The WeCare department is the heart of our sustainability efforts, driven by three distinct pillars: Planet, People (Social), and Governance (Non-financial ESG related). You will be establishing our overarching sustainability strategy, and ensuring our initiatives drive real business value and brand pride. You will serve as the primary driver for integrating sustainable practices into our core business model, ensuring it's not a siloed effort but a fundamental engine for innovation, risk mitigation, and long-term value creation.

You’ll lead a dedicated and passionate team across the Planet, People, and Governance pillars. Reporting directly to the Chief Service Officer, you will act as a key advisor to the senior executive team and play a central role in shaping Strawberry's future and cultivating our unique DNA. You will be located in either Oslo or Stockholm, and you’ll need to travel between locations on a regular basis to be present for your distributed team and stakeholders.

The ideal candidate is a visionary leader with a deep commercial understanding. You are ready to guide a newly structured team of specialists on this transformation journey, while being pragmatic enough to navigate complex regulatory landscapes. You prioritize progress and impact over perfect plans.

What you’ll be doing

  • Drive Strategic Integration: Develop, own, and execute the overarching multi-year WeCare strategy, ensuring the Planet, People, and Governance pillars are fully aligned with Strawberry’s broader business objectives and long-term growth plans. You will partner with cross-functional department heads to embed ambitious corporate targets into their operational KPIs and decision-making processes.

  • Oversee Core ESG Pillars: Provide strategic direction for the three ESG pillars. You will oversee non-financial, ESG-related Governance to ensure 100% auditable data and statutory compliance, direct the Planet strategy to continue to reduce our environmental footprint, and champion the People strategy to establish our social impact as a core brand differentiator.

  • Act as Executive Advisor and Spokesperson: Provide critical insights, risk exposure analyses, and strategic recommendations to the Senior Executive Team. Externally, you will serve as Strawberry’s primary spokesperson for sustainability across media, industry forums, and public relations.

  • Lead Financial & Resource Management: Oversee the departmental budget and resource allocation. You will build robust, ROI-driven business cases to secure executive approval and funding (CapEx and OpEx) for large-scale sustainability investments and systemic operational upgrades.

  • Accelerate Commercial Growth: Oversee the collaboration with other departments to monetize our WeCare initiatives. You will oversee the development of ESG sales enablement tools that allow Strawberry to effortlessly win B2B tenders and drive corporate revenue.

What we’re looking for

  • 10+ years of sustainability experience, expertly bridging Sustainability, Commercial Strategy, and Operations to drive measurable business value.

  • Proven track record in a complex, multi-site, or matrixed B2B/B2C organization (hospitality, retail, or FMCG preferred), with a talent for navigating decentralized operational structures.

  • Exceptional change management and influence skills, capable of embedding sustainability into the corporate culture and gaining buy-in from the C-suite, General Managers, and external property owners.

  • Expertise in operationalizing ESG frameworks (CSRD, ESRS, GHG Protocol, Åpenhetsloven), transforming mandatory compliance reporting into a strategic commercial advantage.

  • Demonstrated commercial acumen, with a history of monetizing sustainability initiatives, launching green concepts, and actively supporting B2B sales and RFP cycles.

  • Commanding executive presence, acting as a compelling internal and external spokesperson. Fluent communication skills in English and at least one Scandinavian language are required.
