We're looking for a dynamic, highly structured, and execution-focused Director of Marketing Hotel Operations. Your genuine drive, pragmatic mindset, and bold, confident leadership combined with a proven generalist background, will be instrumental in bridging the gap between central marketing strategies and local hotel operations.

We find ourselves at an exhilarating position. We’ve grown to over 250 hotels, and by breaking the historic 20 billion NOK revenue milestone, we have proven that our formula works. Over the last two years, we have transformed how marketing operates at Strawberry - shifting from a support function to a commercial growth engine, building in-house capabilities and delivering measurable results. While this work has earned multiple industry awards, we are far from done and have a lot more work to do.

What you will be doing:

The roadmap for operationalizing our marketing into the future requires a strong leader who can act as the central anchor for our commercial execution. You will lead a dedicated team of 12 marketing professionals, including our Marketing Managers for our chain hotel brands. As a key member of the Marketing Leadership Team, reporting directly to the VP of Brand, Marketing & Digital Sales, you will sit alongside specialist leaders covering digital sales & e-commerce, CRM, content, design, and social media. In this role, you will be the vital link between these central marketing functions and our local hotel operations.

  • Lead and develop our central marketing team across chain brands (Clarion Hotel, Quality Hotel, Comfort Hotel, Home Hotel, and Stopover), fostering high execution quality and an inclusive environment.
  • Drive operational excellence and execution, orchestrating workflows and alignment between central specialist teams, chain brands, and hotel operations.
  • Manage and optimize marketing budgets across the portfolio with a strict "fewer, bigger, better" focus, maximizing commercial impact and creative output despite tightly bounded media resources.
  • Lead larger cross-functional, Nordic projects and change initiatives from planning to successful implementation, securing strong organizational alignment.
  • Master stakeholder management, building trust, setting clear priorities, and acting as a commercial sparring partner to both hotel General Managers and central senior leadership.

Who we think you are:

To be successful in this role, we believe you are a proactive leader with a strong commercial mindset and a proven track record of bringing scalable processes and clear structure to complex, fast-paced matrix environments. You possess a natural authority, enabling you to confidently set boundaries, prioritize, and make tough decisions when needed to keep the organization focused on key deliverables.

  • You have a solid, stable career track record with broad marketing experience (covering digital channels, content, and media buying). You are not a niche specialist, but a generalist who knows how all parts of the marketing funnel connect.
  • You possess strong relationship-building skills and commercial credibility, making you comfortable working closely with hotel General Managers, executive leadership, and a wide range of stakeholders across a fast-paced operational environment. To succeed in this Nordic matris setup, fluency in Swedish or Norwegian is a requirement.
  • You have a proven track record of successfully managing larger, complex marketing projects. You excel at driving cross-functional and cross-brand initiatives from strategic planning all the way through to hands-on implementation and final execution.
  • You are a senior professional with a minimum of 10 years of professional experience, including at least 5 years of experience leading diverse, complex teams and high-impact change projects with a proven track record.
  • You are a grounded leader who combines a pragmatic, 'get things done' mindset with creative problem-solving. You have an excellent ability to turn restricted resources into maximum impact, driving progress through resourcefulness and clever internal orchestration rather than relying on massive agency setups.

What we can offer you:

  • A truly unique opportunity to be a part of a success story. In five years, you will proudly say “we did that”.
  • The opportunity to shape and elevate how marketing supports operational excellence across the entire Strawberry universe.
  • A flat organization with trust and autonomy in your work. We are rebels that support innovation without imposing strict corporate rules.
  • Professional development and growth opportunities; with tailor-made leadership development, executive sparring, and high-impact change initiatives..
  • The chance to be part of a passionate team with exceptional colleagues and an inclusive culture, that believes every stay should be a story worth telling.
  • Plenty of social events including smaller gatherings with your team and huge get-togethers with the whole Strawberry family!
  • Great benefits! In addition to our collective agreement, we also offer staff discounts and friends & family rates at our 250+ hotels.

Details:

You will report to Marianne Orderud,  VP Brand, Marketing & Digital Sales. You will travel across the Nordic region as part of the role. Strawberry applies a 3-day office presence policy. For this position, your base will be in Oslo. While there is some flexibility for hybrid solutions, this role requires a strong, consistent physical presence in Oslo.
