Position: Full-time, Permanent

About the team and role

Strawberry is redefining what it means to care, transforming our sustainability efforts from a compliance exercise into a powerful commercial and cultural advantage. As the Head of Compliance & Risk, you will report directly to the VP of Sustainability and serve as a core member of our central sustainability leadership team. You will also maintain a formalized, independent dotted reporting line to the CFO to ensure non-financial risks are managed with top-tier corporate rigor. Leading a newly structured team, you will provide our entire group, from central headquarters to individual hotels and franchise partners, with a shared compliance framework, clear guidelines, and ongoing decision support.

What you’ll be doing

  • Own the Corporate Framework: Own and maintain the Corporate Governance Handbook as the foundational reference for all group policies, routines, and business ethics.

  • Lead Risk & Materiality Assessments: Execute our annual Double Materiality Assessment to define our strategic risk focus and guide the overarching priorities of the sustainability team.

  • Guarantee Regulatory Compliance: Oversee the execution, continuous auditing, and publication of mandatory public disclosures and statutory ESG reporting (including CSRD, CSDDD, the Transparency Act, and ARP).

  • Manage Audits & Board Reporting: Act as the primary central point of contact for external ESG auditors to manage the verification process, while reporting non-financial risks quarterly to the CFO, COO, and the Board.

  • Architect the Data Systems: Own and optimize our central ESG data management system to guarantee robust, accurate, and 100% audit-ready data flows across all properties and corporate functions.

  • Mitigate Value Chain Risks: Partner closely with Procurement to audit and enforce our Supplier Code of Conduct, scaling "The Sourcing Code" down to hotel-level purchasing to address risks like bribery, corruption, and labor exploitation.

  • Protect the Business: Conduct risk assessments across the supply chain, real estate, and business relations, seamlessly embedding climate and social risks into the broader corporate ERM system.

  • Enable B2B Sales Growth: Establish and manage a compliance "One-Stop Shop" that provides our sales team with ready-to-use documentation, allowing Strawberry to effortlessly win complex B2B ESG tenders and keep major contracts.

What we’re looking for

  • Proven Leadership in Governance & Risk: Extensive experience leading corporate governance, risk management frameworks, and non-financial data reporting within a complex matrix or multi-site environment.

  • Expertise in ESG Regulations: Deep operational knowledge of incoming and existing European and Nordic sustainability mandates, specifically CSRD, ESRS, CSDDD, and the Norwegian Transparency Act.

  • Commanding Authority & Objectivity: A leader who is comfortable holding real decision-making authority—such as approving risk assessments before high-risk contracts are signed and mandating formal sign-offs for policy exceptions.

  • Analytical & Data-Driven Mindset: Strong capability in setting up internal control systems, data governance protocols, and managing the technical end-to-end audit process with external assurance providers.

  • Strategic Commercial Acumen: The ability to look past compliance checkboxes and actively use good governance as a commercial asset that saves sales teams time, secures B2B RFPs, and protects corporate revenue.

  • Exceptional Cross-Functional Influence: A skilled navigator of internal boundaries who can partner effectively with Finance, Legal, Procurement, IT, and Real Estate to build deep, trusted organizational alignment.
