Software Engineer (Backend)

In this role, you won't just be writing code, you will be an integral part of shaping our architecture. We are looking for a systems thinker who can zoom out to understand the overall solution and business impact, and then zoom in to deliver clean, efficient, and robust microservices and serverless implementations. What You’ll Do

• Design & Build: Develop high-performing, scalable, and secure server based and serverless applications using Java 21+ and Spring Boot.

• Systems Thinking: Collaborate with product managers and architects to understand the "big picture" and ensure your technical solutions align with broader business goals.

• Cloud & DevOps: Deploy and manage applications in AWS, actively contributing to and optimizing our CI/CD pipelines for seamless delivery.

• Champion Quality: Write testable code utilizing Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Behavior Driven Development (BDD) principles to maintain our high standards of reliability.

• Innovate with AI: Leverage Generative AI tools and concepts to optimize workflows, enhance product features, and drive innovation within the team.

• Solve Complex Problems: Tackle intricate technical challenges with a logical, analytical, and creative mindset.

What You Bring (Requirements)

Core Development Skills:

• Proven experience as a Software Engineer or similar role in an Agile environment.

• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming, data structures, and algorithms.

• Familiarity with version control (Git), RESTful API design, and database management (SQL/NoSQL).

• Exceptional problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to debugging and troubleshooting.

Specific Tech Stack & Expertise:

• Java 21+: Deep, hands-on experience with modern Java features and ecosystem. Experience in working with reactive programming paradigm is definitely an added advantage.

• Spring Boot: Strong proficiency in building robust applications and APIs.

• Microservices: Experience designing, building, and maintaining distributed microservice architectures.

• AWS Cloud: Practical experience with AWS services (e.g., EC2, Lambda, S3, ECS, DynamoDB, IAM, CF, Bedrock etc).

• CI/CD: Experience building and maintaining automated deployment pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions etc).

• TDD: A strong commitment to Test-Driven Development and writing comprehensive unit and integration tests.

• Generative AI: Familiarity with integrating LLMs, prompting techniques, or using GenAI tools to accelerate development.

Details 

You will report to the Engineering manager of Omni (Business rule platform). For this position, your base will be in Stockholm. Strawberry applies a 3-day office presence policy. While there is some flexibility for hybrid solutions, this role requires a strong, consistent physical presence in Stockholm. Selection is ongoing and the position may be filled before the closing date, so please apply as soon as possible.
