Product Design Manager

Location

Sweden, Stockholm

Are you ready to help a team of designers do their best work?

As Design Manager, you lead and develop our team of skilled product designers, each working in a different product team. You combine people leadership and design leadership, and you stay close to the craft through hands-on design work. This is a role for someone who finds energy in other people's growth, and who is just as comfortable with the practical side of leading a team.

What you will be doing:

The Design Manager shapes the quality, consistency and craft of design across our digital guest experiences, combining hands-on design work with people and practice leadership.

Design leadership

  • Develop shared standards for design quality, consistency and craft together with the team, for example the strategy for our design system
  • Involve the team in shaping direction, so standards are built together and carried by everyone
  • Champion design quality by coaching the team, not by directing individual design decisions
  • Work alongside other stakeholders to shape area strategy, bringing design and experience thinking into the decisions that set direction
  • Set direction for how design works with AI, and involve the team in exploring it. The goal is to increase speed and quality while protecting product design thinking and craft.

People leadership

  • Act as a sparring partner and escalation point for the team.
  • Lead and develop the team through regular 1:1s, coaching, feedback and performance reviews
  • Support each designer's growth, in their craft and in their career
  • Represent it across Strawberry and stand up for the team's perspective in the organization
  • Handle the administrative side of leading a team, such as planning, recruitment and onboarding, involving the team where it matters

Hands-on design

  • Lead end-to-end design work on selected initiatives, from exploration, research and concepting to prototyping, testing and hand-off for development
  • Design for both app and web in close collaboration with product managers and cross-functional teams, taking a user-centered approach
  • Stay close to the craft and lead by example

Who we think you are:

  • You are a people leader. You have experience leading and coaching designers, and you care about helping others reach their full potential.
  • You are a design leader. You have strong product design experience. You lift a team's work by coaching, not by directing.
  • You set direction and bring people with you.
  • You are organized and reliable. You keep the practical side of leading a team running, from planning and recruitment to reviews and other administrative tasks.
  • You have strong stakeholder management  skills, you communicate clearly with colleagues and leaders, and you build trust across across the organization

Qualifications:

  • 5 + years of experience in product design, with experience in a lead or manager role
  • Experience designing for app and web, and working in Figma
  • Professional fluency in English; proficiency in a Scandinavian language is an advantage
